Practice & Pool Update: We have electricity. We have water. Unfortunately, some pesky equipment now wants to act up. We believe it is a minor issue but we’ll know more by Monday evening. Due to the delays we are going to have voluntary practices over the Memorial weekend. These are completely voluntary and should in no way impact any family plans you may have made. No rescheduling flights or any stuff like that. Basically, the coaches will be at the pool, if you’re around, come swim. This applies to the senior team only.
No practice on Monday, rain in the forecast.
Junior Hammerheads will start on Tuesday, May 30 at 8:00 am.
Senior Hammerhead Practices (Friday, Saturday & Monday). We will not have dry land.
- White team - 8:00 – 8:30 am.
- Red at 8:30 – 9:15 am
- Blue at 9:15 – 10:15 am
- All practices will be over at 10:15 am for club opening at 10:30 am.
Since we have not had our assessments, returning swimmers should come to the practice you ended last season with. For new swimmers, if you are a rising 5th grader or below, come to the white practice. Rising middle schooler, red practice. High Schooler or year-round swimmer, Blue practice. Coaches will make adjustments as they see fit.
Sponsorship Update: Allison Pellettieri continues to do an amazing job with our team sponsors. Everyone should join me in thanking her for putting together such an amazing slate of 2017 swim team sponsors. Here is the list thus far:
Platinum: Becky Veal (Home Source Group), Carter Law Group, Grecian Gyro, McAlister Home Group, Piedmont Bank, Southbound, The Mad Italian, The Treasure Mart, Tuxedo Mechanical & Plumbing, Vintage Pizzeria
Gold: Jump and Slide, Chris Tallman/Coldwell Banker Realty, Frosty Caboose, Handy Entertainment (A Handy Little Company), Peak Performance Chiropractic, Tin Roof Cantina
Silver: 9th Inning Baseball, Barbra Neuman Wollner Realty, Milano - Dunwoody
Alyssa Naomi & Iris Knapp: We just received word that Alyssa Naomi will be withdrawing from the team. Iris, her grandmother and caregiver, was in a terrible cycling accident leaving her with broken ribs and shoulder, punctured lung, road rash, a concussion, and to top it off, a bad case of poison ivy. Iris will be out of commission for a couple of months and is staying with family in north Sandy Springs. Getting A-N to practices and meets is not possible for Iris. Please keep Iris, Alyssa Naomi, and family in your thoughts and prayers.
First Meet, @ Deerfield Spalding Lake, Wed May 31: I know it’s been hard to think about meets when we haven’t been in the water, but we do have a meet coming up a week from Wednesday. We have a ton of volunteer spots that need filled. Please don’t forget to Volunteer and get those RSVPs entered so we make sure everyone get events to swim. If you need help, don’t forget to watch the help videos I made.
Swimmer Gear: All t-shirts, bags, swim cap and other swimmer goodies are being printed. Some items have arrived, but we like to give everything out at once with the bag. Things tend to disappear before the first meet if we hand them out too early. This includes any suits that were ordered for team delivery. If we have something you want right away, just let me know.
Drone Owner Needed: If there are any drone owners out there. I’d like an aerial photo of the club to use for the post-meet cleanup team so we know where everything goes. If you can help with this, please let me know so we can setup some time to do this. I’d like to also get one of the club right before a meet but we’ll need some time to figure that setup out.
Letter from HHSTC Board President: Ryan Tracy, club president, has a very nice letter to share with all our swim families. Here it is…
Dear Valued Swim Team Family,
As president of the Huntley Hills Swim and Tennis Club I wanted to take a moment to address the delays that are directly affecting the swim team. As you know, we made a decision to renovate our facility which had been in extreme disrepair for a substantial amount of time. After experiencing delays in the permit process we felt the time was still right to proceed with the renovation project. Opportunities to provide all of our patrons with substantial enhancements to their safety and overall experience at our facility do not come around often.
We are confident that you and your swimmer(s) will appreciate the results of this process and be understanding of the delay currently being experienced. We should be in the water soon as we are awaiting the pool motor to come back from a machinist for ball bearing repairs and approximately 24 hours of circulation and chemical balancing once the pump is reinstalled. First and foremost we will ensure a safe aquatic environment for your swimmer(s).
Thank you for your understanding during these exciting times at HHSTC. Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns about the facility or this process, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Ryan Tracy, President, HHSTC
