Meet Recap and Info For Next Week
Hi Parents!
Congrats on a great meet last night! We really appreciate everyone who drove all the way to Smyrna, it was a great showing against a huge team (we had 82 swimmers and they had 223!) and while we didn't win overall we did give them a run for their money - small but mighty! The final score was 311- 485, with Smyrna winning the meet. That was a great score for our team and all of our swimmers did a fantastic job in the pool! We are really proud of our swimmers (and we are proud that a lot of our swimmers tried new events last night)!
Our next meet is much closer, in Sandy Springs, at Hammond Hills. This meet is Tuesday, June 4, and swimmers need to be there by 4:30 for a 5 pm warmup and a 5:30 pm start. Please RSVP for attending or not attending ASAP. You can click here to RSVP, you MUST RSVP by Saturday evening.
Volunteer slots are also open! I can not thank all our volunteers enough - we really appreciate your help in making the meet run smoothly. It may feel daunting to volunteer but we promise it isn't - if you click here to volunteer you will see descriptions of all the roles.
We are going to ask our parents to please ensure that all 12 and under swimmers are sitting in the bullpen when not swimming. We had a few swimmers miss events last night because they were nowhere to be found when our volunteers were getting swimmers lined up for their events. And, for our older swimmers, please be where you need to be - and be a good example to our younger swimmers.
This year we are excited to have a theme winner every week, as well as 4 MVPs of the meet. The theme winner will receive a $15 gift card to CFA, and the MVPs will get a special gold HH swim cap! These winners will be picked by the coaches and will be 1 boy and 1 girl 10 and under and 1 boy and 1 girl 11 and over.
This week's theme winner is....Ellie Neubauer!
This week's MVPs are...
Sabrina Kulinski
Sloane Rabe
Jackson Broadway
Jackson Hudnall
We are waiting for the swim caps to come in and they should be here this week. Once we have them we will hand them out to the winners.
Our practice schedule for next week is the same as this week, but we are adding in 2 evening practices:
Monday, 6-7 pm, for our red and white swimmers; 7-8 pm for our blue/sharks. We do request that juniors do not attend this practice as we only have part of the pool and not the entire pool.
Wednesday, 6-7 pm for our red and white swimmers; 7-8 pm for our blue/sharks. We will also host our first juniors meet this Wednesday, from 6-6:30ish. They will swim a lap of freestyle and a lap of backstroke! It is a great time to cheer on our littlest swimmers and future Hammerheads!
Thanks for everything!
Andrea
