End of Season Wrap up
Parents and swimmers, 34 days of practices, 12 total meets, 4 ribbon events plus a banquet and we are done! I’m sure you felt like it was never going to end and now you have all this time with your kiddos!
I will tell you that winning our Divisionals was icing on the cake! Easily beating all the teams we’d swum before and another 13 other teams we didn’t engage was so exciting. So proud of our swimmers, coaches and parents. Congrats on a job well done.
But, the best part of our cake was how much our swimmers grew. So many new swimmers that weren’t always excited to be there and so many returning swimmers who just kept improving week by week. To all those Junior parents, I know you will enjoy your 4th of July at the pool without the worry of your child going in without you. :0)
Our banquet was wonderful, thanks to our mom’s that made that happen, Caroline Kulinski, Marcela Arratia, and Deborah Hakes. There were many others that just stepped in like they do and made all the magic happen, and for that I thank you.
And a huge thanks to Andrea Botham for serving as our swim team rep to the board and for ASA. That task has so many behind the scenes moving pieces that without her, many balls would have been dropped.
And last, but certainly not least, thank you to Coach Katie Stilson. Without her, swim meets would have been so much more complicated. She is a wiz at our swim programs and her background in coaching (among other things) left me with a sense of security that it’ll all be okay when there were adjustments to be made.
So what’s next?
First, if you didn’t get your ribbons or trophies, they are locked in the room with the lane ropes. Feel free to look for a coach at the pool to assist with getting them or ask the lifeguard to open the room and you’ll find them in a bin in an envelope with your child’s name on it.
Second, there MAY be a fall swim league. If it does happen, it will be much smaller and all children must be able to complete the 25yard freestyle without any assistance and in less than 1 minute. IF it happens, I will only have two coaches and we will not be able to be in the water with your swimmer. IF it happens, it will go approximately from the first week of Aug through the middle of September.
Third, our coaches will still be offering clinics and swim instruction although scheduling will look a little different. There will NOT be any opportunities from the 5-9 Jul due to staffing.
Fourth, if you are all done for the year, I hope to have you back next season. We typically start asking you to sign up in March to get started in May. Now that everyone’s done it at least once before, it won’t be so stressful next year:0)
Again, thanks for all the love and support you’ve given your kids and your coaches. Those kiddos worked hard to make your kids better little people and who could ask for much more.
Sincerely,
Coach Beth
