Details for Next Week
Pre-Season Practices start on Monday. Yippie!!!!
Swimmer Assessment, Sunday at 5:00 pm: The purpose of the assessment is for the coaches to determine which training group each swimmer should practice with. They will be observed swimming a few laps and strokes. The assessment will take an hour, but an individual swimmer will only swim for a few minutes for the coaches to make an evaluation. In many cases the coaches already know the swimmers from last season, therefore participation is not mandatory. New members to swim team or anyone who's abilities have changed since last season are encourage to attend. Unless there is thunder and foul weather, the assessment will proceed even if the water is chilly as they'll only be in it for a few laps.
If you can't make the assessment, returning swimmers should come to the training practices they came to last season. If you're a new swimmer, 10 & under should come to White, 12 & Under to Red, 13 and over to Blue. Coaches will make adjustments based on their skill level after the first practice.
Pre-Season Practices Details: Water temperature permitting, pre-season practices will begin on Monday. Since swimmers will be in the water for a longer periods of time, we'll monitor the water temperature to make sure it is safe for the kids. There are different recommendations based on duration of practice, age of the child, etc. If we have a practice, you are still the ultimate decider if its right for your child to participate. Some are able to handle the cold water better that others.
Practice times are as follows:
| Dry Land | Wet Work | |
| White Red Blue | None 4:45p 5:30p | 4:00 - 4:45p 5:00 - 6:00p 6:00 - 7:00p |
Red and Blue swimmers do warm-up exercises, running, etc. prior to swimming, therefore, please come to practice with athletic shoes. Everyone should have swim googles, sunscreen, training swim fins, and a big huge towel (aka blanket) for practices.
Swim Suits: I will not be able to attend the assessment on Sunday. I am chaperoning an overnight Chamblee Middle School trip and we will not return until 7:00pm. I will bring the suit box with me to the first few practices. If you haven't ordered a suit but plan to you need to do it ASAP. It may not arrive in time for the first meet. You can either pay to have it shipped to your home, or pick it up at one of their "Pop-up" swim shops (the closest one is on Thursday nights, 4-6:00 pm at the Norcross, Fowler YMCA.
RSVP & Volunteers: Just a friendly reminder that their online and ready to be completed.
